NNADAP ADDICTIONS COUNSELLOR

The NNADAP Addictions Counsellor is responsible for providing confidential addictions counselling, education and support to individuals, families and the community and for promoting healthy lifestyles and healthy choices. The NNADAP Addictions Counsellor provides counselling and support to individuals and families experiencing addictions. This may include confidential individual, family or group counselling about the causes and effects of addictions support for families dealing with addictions and/or referrals to treatment for individuals requesting this opportunity.
Qualifications and Requirements: Grade12 or equivalent; College diploma in Social Services or Addictions Counselling; trained/education in assessment tools – ADAT, GAINS, SAI; two years of experience working with clients in mental health & addictions or related field; candidates without the specific education qualifications and where the position does not require certified qualification to practice, but who possess an appropriate combination of experience and other academic qualifications will also be considered.
Hours of Work: 32.5 hours per week
Must have: A satisfactory criminal records check; alcohol and drug free; must have a valid driver’s license and access to a reliable, personal vehicle; Computer literacy in Microsoft Office software; a valid Standard First Aid/CPR certificate; knowledge of the Biinjitiwaabik Zaaging Anishinaabek cultural understandings and values.
