Program Support Worker

The John Howard Society is seeking a full time (35 hours/week) Program Support Worker to deliver an Indigenous Student Support Program in partnership with the Superior -Greenstone District School Board. Working out of the Geraldton Composite High School, this initiative of the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services(MCCSS) is designed to assist Indigenous students who are experiencing social and/or behavioural challenges by supporting the educational needs of Indigenous students and delivering culturally appropriate support services and programming through partnerships between school and community agencies.

Education and Experience

  • Post secondary education in humanities and/or social services
  • Experience in program implementation, First Nations culture and programming and restorative justice practices
  • Experience delivering programs to youth 12-17 years of age
  • Possess strong motivational interviewing skills and competency using risk/need assessment and case management tools
  • Must possess strong organizational and communication skills
  • Must be able to provide a current Police Record Check that includes Vulnerable Sector Screening
