Employer Incentives

What is it?

The Employer Incentive program is a wage subsidy program funded by the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development, and Employment Ontario, which is funded by the Government of Ontario. It encourages employers to hire eligible individuals to assist them with long-term employment opportunities and with gaining new skills relevant to the market place. MTW Employment Services offers you this program within the Municipality of Greenstone.

What is it for?

This program can help your business by providing a wage subsidy to off-set training and payroll costs for a new employee. Depending on the individual you hire, they may be eligible for additional support to help keep them in their new position.

Does my business qualify?

If you operate a business in Ontario and need to employ individuals whom haven’t worked for you in the past, you may qualify for this program.

How do I get started?

Simply contact our Job Developer, at (807) 854-1234 to discuss your staffing needs and register you as an employer. We can help you attract and recruit the employees with the skills you need from posting employment opportunities, helping to identify human resource skill requirements, and matching position and workplace requirements to a participant’s skills capabilities, interest and experience.

Please note, it is important that the individuals you hire do not start working until the employer incentive is approved.
For more information call us at (807) 854-1234 or (807) 876-4222.

Better Jobs Ontario

Effective April 29, 2022, we expanded the program to better help people who may face challenges finding stable jobs such as gig workers, youth and people on social assistance. If you have been unemployed for six months or longer, and are part of a low-income household, you may benefit from these changes. To better reflect the expansion of the program, we renamed the program Better Jobs Ontario.
