Summary: 

Ginoogaming First Nation is currently seeking an experienced Health Manager to lead the development of solutions to address suicide and protect youth at risk of suicide for Ginoogaming First Nation children and youth.  In support of youth holistic well-being, the candidate will work collaboratively with other programs, including Choose Life, Cultural coordinators, mental health services, and other multi-disciplinary professionals such as teachers and counsellors/psychologists to identify and put solutions into place to strengthen a widening circle of care responsive to the needs of community members, youth and children by offering Suicide Prevention and Intervention focused  programming aimed to improve and promote the mental and emotional well-being of at-risk youth.   

Requirements:

  • Degree or diploma in the Social Services field, or health related diploma and or degree and/or four years related education and practical experience,
  • A deep knowledge of health programs and services including development and management of budgets
  • Proven ability to prepare reports to funders of health programs and services
  • A comprehensive understanding of the trends, issues, research, challenges and opportunities associated with suicide prevention and holistic wellness
  • Solid experience in health program management and supervision of program and service delivery
  • Excellent communication abilities including ability to develop and present engaging and influential presentations to multiple audiences
  • A positive role model able to perform duties in a respectful, responsible and ethical manner;
  • Previous experience working in a First Nation
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including demonstrated ability to be unbiased and influence strong working relationships in a multiple stakeholder environment
  • Ability to keep confidential records;
  • Ability to pass a criminal records check and vulnerable sector check if required;
  • Ability to travel when necessary;
  • Proficient in Microsoft word, excel, outlook, powerpoint and other related software programs;
  • Fluency in Ojibway, Cree or Oji-Cree considered an asset;
