Position Overview:

The Infant Child Development Worker provides a family centered psycho-social approach to intervention services for infants and children 0 to 6 years of age who are delayed or “at risk” of developmental delay by providing in-home developmental assessments, treatment plans, programming, support, referral and educational resources to the parents or primary caregiver of the infant/child in accordance with the program guidelines. The Infant Child Development Worker will assist in the implementation of integrated service delivery from the point of intake to discharge for all assigned infants/children and families receiving services.

Qualifications and Requirements: 

  • A minimum two-year Human Services Diploma is required. An Early Childhood Education or Child and Youth Worker Diploma is preferred
  • Knowledge of the developmental stages of children age 0 – 6 years old and ability to apply this knowledge in a sensitive manner with Anishinabek families; knowledge and understanding of the Child and Family Services Act, the Mental Health Act, and other relevant legislation; an Anishinabek language an asset and knowledge of current issues affecting Anishinabek people, knowledge and understanding of the Anishinabek Way, and proven ability to work effectively with Anishinabek people
  • Candidates without the specific education qualifications and where the position does not require certified qualifications to practice, but who possess an appropriate combination of child welfare experience and other academic qualifications will also be considered
  • A satisfactory Criminal Records and Vulnerable Sector Search
  • Ability to work flexible hours as determined by the Services Manager in relation to service requirements
  • Must posses a Class “G” Driver’s License, have access to a personal vehicle, and $1,000,000 liability vehicle insurance
  • A valid Standard First Aid/CPR Certificate is recommended
  • Complete and maintain certification in Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS) assessment tool
  • Must complete a medical and receive the required immunizations as recommended by the local medical officer of health

Hours of Work: 32.5 hours per week
